James H. Wells glass negatives, ca. 1904.

The James H. Wells glass negatives consist of 131 images circa 1904. They are not formal portraits but staged, yet casual scenes. Several of the images appear to have been taken in the dormitory rooms of Patterson Hall (built in 1904), the first women's dormitory on campus. There are also classroom scenes with students working in laboratories, campus scenes, men working in tool shops, and women playing tennis. There are several images that appear to be from a class trip to a forested area, possibly geological in nature.
